Policy
Terms of service
These terms govern your use of Dyerun. They are written to be read, not to be survived — where something works against you, it says so plainly.
Last updated 1 September 2026
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. Where any part of these terms conflicts with a right you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 or any other consumer protection legislation, that right applies and the conflicting part does not.
01Who you are contracting with
Dyerun is operated by the company whose registered particulars are published on the legal information page. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company, and “you” means the person using the service.
You must be 18 or over to create an account or to subscribe. The service is available worldwide and is provided in English. Prices are in USD.
02What the service does
You upload a photograph of a garment’s composition label and a photograph of the garment, and tell us what you were intending to wash it with. From the fibre content and the depth and family of the colour, the service produces an estimate of how likely that garment is to transfer dye onto other items in the same wash.
The estimate is expressed as one of three levels:
- Wash alone — wash the item on its own for this wash.
- With darks only — wash it only with items already as dark as it is or darker.
- Usually safe — nothing in the composition or the colour points to a transfer risk on this wash.
“Usually safe” is the lowest level the service can report. Usually is not always. If what you are washing it with matters to you, test first. The service never states that an item will not transfer colour, never states that it is safe to mix, and gives no assurance of any kind about the outcome of a wash.
Alongside the estimate you receive the reasons behind it, a description of what the item could stain, a first-wash handling plan, a method for testing the item yourself at home, and a list of the things the estimate cannot know. The full explanation of how the estimate is produced and where it is blind is on the estimate notice page.
03What the service is not, and must not be used for
The estimate is not a colourfastness test. A colourfastness test wets, rubs and measures the actual fabric under controlled conditions. We are reading two photographs.
The service does not recommend any dye fixative, colour catcher, detergent, wash bag or other product, and we have no commercial relationship with any brand or retailer of such products. We do not repeat unverified folk remedies. We do not evaluate any brand and we never present dye transfer as any brand’s fault.
You must not use the output of this service:
- as evidence in a claim, return, chargeback or complaint against a retailer, manufacturer, brand or any other person;
- as a substitute for laboratory colourfastness testing, or to represent to anyone that testing has been carried out;
- to make or support any medical, legal, financial, safety, employment, credit, housing or judicial decision;
- to represent to a third party that we have ruled out dye transfer for an item, or that any assurance about a wash has been given.
Further restrictions on how the service may be used are in the acceptable use policy, which forms part of these terms.
04Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
You may close your account at any time from your billing page. Closing it deletes your readings, your garment records and your uploaded photographs; see the privacy policy for the timescales.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used in breach of the acceptable use policy, or where we are required to by law. Where we do, we will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so, and we will refund any part of a subscription you have paid for and not received.
05Plans, prices and VAT
There are three plans: Free, Rinse and Load. What each one includes is set out on the pricing page, and the pricing page is part of these terms.
All prices are shown in USD and include VAT at 20%. The price you see is the price charged; there is no separate tax added at the end. The total, the billing period and the fact that the subscription renews automatically are all shown to you at the checkout before you commit.
We do not run trials, introductory rates, countdowns or discounts, so there are no promotional conditions attached to what you pay.
06Allowance
Allowance is a measure of your use of this service. It is not money, it is not stored value, it cannot be redeemed for cash and it cannot be transferred to anyone else. Unused allowance does not carry over into the next period.
There are no credit packs, no top-ups and no way to buy additional allowance separately. If you reach the end of your allowance before the end of a period, the options are to wait for the period to reset or to move to a higher plan.
07Renewal, reminders and cancellation
A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it. You cancel from your billing page — it is one link, it takes effect immediately for the purposes of stopping the next renewal, and there is no form to complete, no phone call and no retention process to sit through.
Before you subscribe, we show you a summary screen stating what you are subscribing to, what it costs, how often it renews, when the first renewal falls and how to cancel. Before each renewal we send you a reminder by email. That reminder contains nothing but the reminder; it is never combined with marketing.
You have 14 days to cancel a new subscription. After each renewal, you have a further 14 days.
The renewal reminder, the pre-contract summary screen, the fresh 14-day window after each renewal and the single-step exit are provided ahead of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 subscription regime, which is expected to come into force in spring 2027. We have chosen to implement them now. They are not currently required of us, and providing them does not reduce any right you have under the law as it stands.
The full cancellation process, including the circumstances in which the statutory cancellation right ends early and the statutory cancellation form, is on the cancellation page.
08Refunds
If you cancel within a cancellation period and the service has been only partly performed, we refund the part not yet supplied, calculated in proportion to the period remaining. We make the refund using the same method you paid with, within 14 days of being told you are cancelling.
If you asked us to begin during the cancellation period and the service has been fully performed within it, the statutory cancellation right ends at that point and a refund is not due under the Regulations. You are told this at the checkout, in two separate statements you agree to individually, and both statements are repeated in your confirmation email.
Outside those situations, if something has gone wrong — the service did not work, you were charged twice, a renewal happened after you cancelled — write to support@artgalleryclothing.shop and we will put it right. We do not require you to argue your way to a refund you are owed.
09Payments and security
Payments are processed by a regulated third-party payment processor. Card details are entered on the processor’s own hosted form and are transmitted directly to it. We never receive, handle or store your full card number, and our systems keep only the last four digits, the card type and the expiry date so that you can recognise which card is on file.
The processor is certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard at Level 1. This site is served over HTTPS in its entirety, including every page on which any information is entered. We accept the major credit and debit cards; the specific cards available to you are shown at the checkout.
The descriptor that appears on your statement is shown to you on the confirmation screen and repeated in your confirmation email, so that a charge you do not recognise can be identified without a dispute.
10Your photographs and your records
The photographs you upload remain yours. You give us permission to process them for the single purpose of producing your reading and, on a paid plan, of storing them against the garment record you asked us to keep.
Your photographs are not used to train any model. We do not sell them, license them, use them for advertising or include them in a dataset. You can delete any record, and its photographs, from your account at any time.
You must only upload photographs you are entitled to upload, and you must not upload anything that identifies a person who has not agreed to it.
11Our material
The readings, the cards, the wording of this site, the risk table and the software behind them belong to us. You may print, save and share the cards produced for your own garments, including with a household member or a person doing your laundry. You may not republish the service’s output as a product of your own, scrape it in bulk, or use it to build a competing dataset or model.
12Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and we will avoid doing that at short notice where we reasonably can.
We may change how the service works, including the risk table, as the underlying understanding improves. If a change materially reduces what your plan provides, we will tell you before it takes effect and you may cancel and receive a refund for the part you have paid for and not received.
13Liability, and what it does not touch
The service produces an estimate of risk from limited information. It can be wrong. We do not accept responsibility for what happens in your machine, for damage to garments, or for any loss arising from a decision you took on the basis of a reading.
That limitation is about the accuracy of the estimate and nothing else. It is not, and must not be read as, an exclusion of your statutory rights in relation to the service itself. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 digital content and digital services must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and section 47 of that Act makes any term that tries to exclude or restrict those rights of no effect. If the service is faulty, does not work as described, or is not provided with reasonable care and skill, you have rights against us and this clause does not touch them.
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to the two paragraphs above, where we are liable to you our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $60, whichever is the greater.
14Law, disputes and complaints
These terms are governed by English law, and the English courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
If something has gone wrong, write to support@artgalleryclothing.shop or call +44 20 8013 8366. We aim to respond within one working day and to resolve a complaint within fourteen days. If we cannot, we will tell you where we have got to and when you will next hear from us.
We are not a member of any alternative dispute resolution scheme and are not required to be. If we cannot resolve a matter between us, you keep every right you have to take it to court.
15Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change affects your rights or what you receive, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then and receive a refund for the part you have paid for and not received. Changes that only correct a mistake or make something clearer take effect when published, and the date at the top of this page changes.
